SENIOR ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENTIST (SUPERVISORY)

They are seeking a Senior Environmental Scientist (Supervisory) to lead a multi-disciplinary team in addressing environmental issues related to transportation projects, ensuring compliance with environmental laws and regulations, and supervising the work of professional staff.

Responsibilities
Perform a broad range of work concerning environmental issues related to protecting California's resources as related to transportation projects
Do field analyses
Prepare environmental documents and technical studies, environmental permitting packages and regulatory permits
Ensure compliance with various environmental laws and regulations
Conduct environmental protection, planning, and mitigation activities
Apply scientific methods and principles to analyze and evaluate available data on the effects of transportation projects on all aspects of the environment
Prepare and review CEQA/NEPA and other technical documents to determine the effects
Implement mitigation strategies to lessen the impact of those projects
Supervise and direct the work of professional or technical staff
Responsible for staff development, performance evaluation, program budgeting, and work force planning
Responsible for the accuracy and quality of a broad range of technical documents being prepared in their branch
Qualification
Required
Possession of a valid driver's license is required when operating a State owned or leased vehicle
Describe your experience utilizing effective oral and written skills, working with interdisciplinary groups, project delivery, and the public
Describe your knowledge of and experience with Federal and State environmental regulations and laws such as the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), Federal Endangered Species Act, Clean Water Act, Clean Air Act, and policies related to vehicle miles traveled (VMT), and greenhouse gas emissions (GHG)
Describe your experience with resolving complex problems concerning project scope, cost, and schedule. Describe how a project's scope, cost and schedule are related
Describe your experience adapting to ever-changing work assignments and project-related requirements while managing personnel challenges and dealing with sensitive responsibilities
