Responsibilities
Culture, isolate, and identify microorganisms using standard laboratory techniques
Perform microbiological testing on water, food, environmental, and biological samples
Use microscopes and specialized lab equipment to analyze microorganisms
Support public health, environmental, and clinical research initiatives
Study microorganism growth, structure, and interactions with humans, animals, plants, and the environment
Conduct chemical and biological analyses and document results in technical reports
Assist in research related to disease, antibiotics, and beneficial microbial applications
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Biology, Microbiology, or related field
0–3 years of experience
Ability to learn quickly
Basic laboratory skills (pipetting, measurements, biological experiments)
Use electron microscopes, gas chromatographs and high pressure liquid chromatographs, electrophoresis units, thermocyclers, fluorescence activated cell sorters and phosphoimagers
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
