Academic Editor & Process Manager
Meridian University is seeking a detail-oriented team member to join the Scholarship Team, supporting doctoral students through the writing, editing, review, and tracking processes for dissertations and clinical case studies. This full-time role combines academic editing expertise with student support, library and research coordination, and process management to ensure high-quality manuscripts for publication.

Responsibilities
Conduct Content, Format & Style, and Bindery reviews of dissertation and clinical case study manuscripts
Provide detailed feedback using Meridian's checklists, Chicago Manual of Style (9th ed.), and graduate-level writing standards
Review manuscripts for spelling, grammar, clarity, citation formatting, and adherence to academic standards
Manage review timelines and turnaround commitments (10-day standard for content reviews)
Track cumulative editing hours and make approval/denial recommendations to the Doctoral Projects Advisory Coordinating Committee (DPACC)
Respond to student cases regarding writing, formatting, research, and citation questions
Provide guidance on accessing library resources, databases, and research materials
Support students through the multi-stage review process with clear, constructive feedback
Create decision letters explaining next steps and required revisions
Maintain visible, reliable systems using Salesforce case management and institutional tools
Create Escalated Case Analyses (ECAs) with detailed review findings and recommendations
Coordinate with the DPACC, Student Services Team, and faculty on manuscript workflows
Use timers and productivity tracking to ensure efficient use of institutional resources
Follow established frameworks for Content Review, Format & Style Review, and Bindery Review processes
Assist students in navigating proprietary databases and locating scholarly sources
Provide guidance on research organization software and word processing tools
Support access to hard-to-find resources and interlibrary loan requests
Qualification
Required
Master's degree or higher in English, Education, Psychology, or related field
3+ years of professional editing experience, preferably with academic manuscripts or dissertations
Strong knowledge of Chicago Manual of Style and academic citation standards
Process management experience with demonstrated ability to manage multiple concurrent projects with varying deadlines
Exceptional attention to detail and ability to identify both macro and micro-level writing issues
Experience with case management or ticketing systems (Salesforce experience strongly preferred)
Excellent written communication skills for providing clear, constructive feedback
Self-management capabilities with ability to work independently and track your own deliverables
Commitment to continuous improvement and willingness to refine processes based on data and feedback
Preferred
Doctoral degree (PhD, PsyD, or EdD)
Experience supporting doctoral students through dissertation or thesis completion
Familiarity with transformative learning or depth psychology approaches
Experience in higher education administration or academic services
Knowledge of APA or other academic style guides in addition to Chicago
Background in project management with exposure to quality assurance frameworks
