Responsibilities
Design and architect backend services supporting large-scale commerce operations
Build high-volume APIs: read services + write services (GET/POST)
Develop ingestion services that can handle terabytes of data efficiently
Set thresholds, limits, throttling, and performance guidelines for APIs
Implement caching strategies, microservice best practices, and scalability patterns
Work with analytics, search services, and data integration layers
Collaborate with DevOps, data engineering, and SFCC/SFRA teams
Produce documentation for API limits, payload sizes, performance boundaries, etc
Integrate with third-party services (Algolia, Coveo, etc.) when needed
Qualification
Required
10+ years of backend engineering experience (Minimum 3–5 years of experience in SFCC/SFRA.)
Strong understanding of microservice architecture
Strong understanding of API design (GET vs POST, payload limits, optimisation)
Strong understanding of high-volume data ingestion
Strong understanding of caching (Redis, CDN layers)
Strong understanding of throttling, rate limiting, load balancing
Strong understanding of performance optimisation
Experience documenting API constraints and service capabilities
Ability to think beyond platform configuration—true architectural thinking
Preferred
Experience with Algolia / Coveo / Search services
Knowledge of distributed systems
Experience with cloud-native services (AWS, GCP, Azure)
