SAFETY AND OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH SPECIALIST (TACTICAL)

USAJOBS is seeking a Safety and Occupational Health Specialist (Tactical) to serve in the Marine Forces Reserve of MARFORRES NOLA. The role involves developing and recommending accident/injury avoidance procedures, conducting risk management studies, and supporting accident investigations to ensure personnel safety.

Responsibilities

You will develop and recommend accident/injury avoidance procedures to safeguard personnel
You will conduct independent and joint risk management studies for operations/exercise and assist others with risk management decision on own initiative or as directed by the supervisor
You will prepare and distribute safety alerts and messages to inform units of unsafe equipment or conditions
You will support and assist accident investigations, reporting, and analyses of tactical and training related injury and property damage accidents

Required

Must be a US Citizen
Must be determined suitable for federal employment
Must participate in the direct deposit pay program
New employees to the Department of the Navy will be required to successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check

Incumbent must be able to perform individually tasks which the supervisor has identified based on the united mission essential task list
Individual must be able to operate High Mobility Multi-Purpose Wheeled Vehicle, wear a protective mask, and operate Night Vision Goggles or other night vision devices
You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty
Incumbent is deployable with military unites assigned/attached to Marine Forces Reserve
This position is considered Key/Emergency-Essential
Incumbent is required to wear military uniforms in a field environment and must meet military appearance standards
Incumbent is required to possess and maintain a government drivers license within 90 days
Incumbent may require immunizations for pre-deployment
This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites
You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases
This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector
Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Providing technical advice on safety programs to commands and implementing technical safety standards, codes, and safety requirements for a variety of operations
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector
Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Assisting in providing interpretation and guidance concerning the application of safety regulations, policies, procedures, and standards
In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience: Successfully completed a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in safety or occupational health fields or a degree in other related fields that included or was supplemented by at least 24 semester hours of study from among the following disciplines: safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene, occupational medicine, toxicology, public health, mathematics, physics, chemistry, biological sciences, engineering, and industrial psychology
In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience: Successfully completed a master's or equivalent graduate degree in safety or occupational health fields or a degree in other related fields that included or was supplemented by at least 24 semester hours of study from among the following disciplines: safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene, occupational medicine, toxicology, public health, mathematics, physics, chemistry, biological sciences, engineering, and industrial psychology
