Mechanical Design Engineer

Responsibilities

Design components and subsystems using SolidWorks and other design tools to meet specific requirements
Support proposed solutions with engineering analysis
Document and release engineered solutions including part drawings, assembly drawings, control drawings, purchased parts specifications, and bills of material
Work collaboratively with Purchasing group and vendors to provide sourcing solutions to design requirements
Support manufacturing from design through final test including fabrication, assembly and occasionally installation

Required

B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering
Food Manufacturing Experience
3-5+ years mechanical engineering experience in a manufacturing process and/or machine design role
Ability to plan and execute engineering product development activities with strong project planning, and interfacing skills
Self-starter with the ability to work from written or verbal instructions with minimum supervision
Working knowledge of various production processes including plasma cutting sheet metal stamping & forming, machining, welding and assembly
Understanding of basic hydraulics, pneumatics, vacuum and power transmission (Sprocket and Chain Gearing) is a must
Understanding of food manufacturing processes, USDA Good Manufacturing Practices, and Sanitary Design principals
SolidWorks proficiency through SW2023
Mechanical stress and strain analysis familiarity
Strong analytical skills, judgment, and problem solving ability
High level of integrity, work ethic, responsiveness, and commitment to continuous improvement
Excellent verbal and written communication / interpersonal skills
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
Knowledge of MRP/ERP systems
Team player, must work effectively with all members of organization

Food Manufacturing Experience
