Engineer Associate, Engineering Assistant 3, Engineer/Architect 1 (PCN 25-1633)
The State of Alaska's Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF) is seeking an Engineer Associate/Engineering Assistant 3/Engineer/Architect 1 to support their Transportation Systems Management and Operations (TSMO) unit. Responsibilities
Help drive the success of Alaska DOT&PF’s Transportation Systems Management and Operations (TSMO) unit
Support critical projects and programs that demand sound judgment, rapid problem-solving, and decisive action
Be part of a response team that supports operations during major events such as typhoons, avalanches, winter storms, flooding, and serious crashes
Help deliver timely, accurate traveler information that keeps Alaskans safe and informed when it matters most
Play a key role in modernizing transportation operations statewide by expanding and integrating emerging technologies such as Dynamic Message Signs (DMS), Remote Weather Information Systems (RWIS), drones, and connected and autonomous vehicle systems
Qualification
Required
Any combination of education and/or experience that provides the applicant with the core competencies of Civil Engineering, Analytical Thinking/Problem Solving, and Written Communication
A valid driver's license is required
Eight years of progressively responsible work experience in engineering, land surveying or architecture, of which one year was as an Engineering Assistant 3 with the State of Alaska, or the equivalent elsewhere
Bachelor's degree with a major in engineering, architecture or land surveying from an institution accredited by ABET
Two years of engineering, architectural or land surveying experience of which one year was at the working or intermediate trainee level
Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) or Architect
