General Dynamics - Bath Iron Works is seeking a candidate to join the Surveying team. In this role, you’ll work in all areas of the shipyard to support the construction process through layout and monitoring of ship construction tolerances.

Responsibilities

Work in all areas of the shipyard from initial plate layout through ship delivery
Provide required data to support the construction process
Responsible for the layout of plate, unit, and ship construction control lines
Installation and alignments of major equipment
Monitoring of the ship in its various stages of construction to ensure construction and fit-up tolerances are met

Required

Strong math skills
Strong knowledge of geometry and trigonometry

Strong computer skills
Ability to use Microsoft office products, including Excel
Ability to read and understand shipyard procedures, work instruction, drawings and blueprints
Must have the ability to obtain a security clearance

Preferred

B.S. or A.S. degree in Surveying Engineering, Construction Technology or Architectural and Civil Engineering Technology or related field
Two years' experience in construction or industrial surveying or related field experience
Ability to operate Total Stations and data collectors
Ability to use surveying Software
Experience using 3 dimensional data models and interpreting 3 dimensional data
Ability to understand 3D coordinate geometry and 3D spatial relationships
Advanced computer or software knowledge
Familiarity with 3D drafting programs
Ability to work with cross functional trades
