Staff Assistant
The Commonwealth of Kentucky's Department of Juvenile Justice is seeking a Staff Assistant to provide chief administrative support to the Commissioner. Responsibilities
Serves as a chief administrative support position for the Commissioner of Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) in the analysis, formulation and administration of multi divisional monitoring, regulating, planning and manage policies with regard to overall safety, fire, whole body imaging (WBI) and radiation safety program areas assigned to the department; and performs other duties as required
Serve as Chief Radiation Safety Coordinator for the WBI and Radiation Safety programs
The Radiation Safety Coordinator (RSC) shall ensure the WBI device and x- ray property screening system is registered and complies with any applicable federal, state, and local regulations
Performs evaluation of integrated functions aligned with the radiation dose limitations, scheduled maintenance of WBI devices, respond to emergency cases with the WBI devices, monitor radiation surveys and radiation dosimeters throughout all DJJ facilities
Develop and maintain a comprehensive safety policy and procedure applying regulations, best practices, and model programs
Support facility occupational safety and health efforts and assist in monitoring responsibilities of facility Safety Coordinators
Oversee the development and implementation of an assessment program for occupational safety and health hazards and WBI risks for DJJ statewide
Performs evaluation of integrated functions as they affect DJJs occupational safety and health hazards and risks to propose program improvements
Develop and monitor related program procedures and training
Interpret regulation and provide technical knowledge on all areas for the department
Travel is required
Qualification
Required
Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree
Six years of administrative or management experience
A master's degree will substitute for one year of the required experience
Additional administrative, management, or research experience will substitute for the required education on a year for year basis
