Responsibilities
Design, develop, and execute API test cases for functional, regression, and integration testing
Perform manual and automated API testing using tools like Postman, REST Assured, or similar
Validate API responses, status codes, headers, payloads, and schema
Perform backend testing using SQL queries to validate data integrity
Collaborate with developers and product teams to understand API requirements and business logic
Automate API test suites and integrate them into CI/CD pipelines
Conduct negative, boundary, and performance-related API testing
Identify, log, and track defects using tools like JIRA
Ensure APIs meet security, reliability, and performance standards
Qualification
Required
4–5 years of experience in API testing / backend testing
Strong knowledge of REST APIs (SOAP knowledge is a plus)
Hands-on experience with Postman, REST Assured, or similar tools
Experience in API automation using Java/Python or equivalent
Solid understanding of HTTP methods, status codes, authentication mechanisms (OAuth, JWT, Basic Auth)
Good experience with SQL for database validation
Familiarity with JSON/XML payloads and schema validation
Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments
