Responsibilities
Provide support and analysis for data science, analysis, and management expertise for acquisition data, to include identification, collection, cleansing, analysis, and interpretation of acquisition data, transforming raw data into meaningful information. Apply data mining, data modeling, natural language processing, and machine learning to extract and analyze information from large structured and unstructured datasets. Visualize, interpret, and report data findings. Create dynamic data reports
Collect and review DON acquisition data for quality assurance, analyze trends and patterns to inform program assessments, and investigate and resolve any data anomalies or unexpected findings
Apply data mining, data modeling, natural language processing, and machine learning to extract and analyze information from large structured and unstructured datasets. Visualize, interpret, and report data findings
Develop and update acquisition, business, and sustainment (ABS) data system activities, processes, and guidance for accountability across the DON enterprise
Coordinate, collect, consolidate and analyze information contained in various databases and information collected during data calls for ABS data systems
Provide strategic evaluation of ABS data system related issues and support developing strategic plans for improvement initiatives
Coordinate, collect, consolidate and test ABS data systems to problem solve, validate, account for DON requirements and support of Financial Improvement and Audit Readiness (FIAR)
Develop training materials for ABS data systems
Provide ABS data systems support to include but not limited to hands-on or remote training and job aids
Develop and maintain a website to support the DON ABS data systems communities
Participate in the review of various ABS data systems (for software releases), and support implementation of correcting functioning software
Assist the government with communications management activities to support liaison across the DON Secretariat, with the subordinate commands (services and Budget Submitting Offices) and with the OSD (including Defense Logistics Agency, U.S. Cyber Command, and Defense Information Systems Agency) offices critical to ABS data systems policy and execution
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
5-7 years of demonstrable data analysis experience, preferably with involvement in defense acquisition programs
Strong quantitative ability and a keen eye for detail and accuracy
Strong background in and experience with data visualization and dashboard creation, to include experience with Qlik, Tableau or Power BI
Experience with SharePoint content management and programming languages such as Python, SQL, non-SQL, and R
Demonstrated experience compiling, organizing, and cleaning large datasets for input into dashboards or business intelligence tools
Experience with data mining, statistical analysis, graph algorithms, API building, and ETL pipelines
Self-motivated and self-monitoring
Exceptional oral and written communications
Ability to multi-task
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Highly proficient in SharePoint and Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
Active Secret clearance
Must be a U.S. citizen
Ability to perform repetitive motions with the hands, wrists, and fingers
Ability to engage in and follow audible communications in emergency situations
Ability to sit for prolonged periods at a desk and working on a computer
Preferred
Experience with data science, data mining, statistics, or graph algorithms to support analytics objectives
Department of Navy experience strongly preferred
