Engineering Intern

The State of Iowa - Executive Branch is seeking an Engineering Intern to support the Iowa Utilities Commission. The successful candidate will work with Utility Regulation Engineers to evaluate and analyze petitions and inspections related to electric and gas pipelines, while adhering to industry safety standards.

Responsibilities

Work directly with the agency’s Utility Regulation Engineers in evaluating and analyzing petitions and inspections for electric transmission franchises and natural gas and hazardous liquid pipeline permits
Conduct engineering reviews of petitions and associated submitted documents
Write memos and reports, and follow docket filings, all under the training and mentorship of IUC engineers
Attend public informational meetings, public hearings, and inspections concerning electric transmission, electric distribution, and natural gas and hazardous liquid pipelines

Required

Currently enrolled students in a degree program at an accredited educational institution
Pursuing a degree from an accredited university in the fields of civil, petroleum, electrical, mechanical, nuclear, or valuation engineering; engineering economics; depreciation engineering; or industrial engineering, i.e., engineering management, operations research, engineering operations, or another engineering-related degree
