Remediation Project Manager
Kansas Department of Health and Environment is responsible for managing health and environmental issues in Kansas. The Remediation Project Manager will oversee soil and groundwater pollution sites, ensuring compliance with state laws and regulations while managing project timelines and budgets.

Responsibilities
Serve as project manager in the Groundwater Monitoring Unit where ongoing investigation, monitoring, cleanup and site closure of contaminated environmentally impacted sites are occurring
Collect, study, evaluate, investigate, interpret and communicate scientific information to ensure environmental projects are completed and contaminated sites move towards a closed status
Review site specific data and information to determine the appropriate course of action which will provide adequate protection to the public
Interact with consultants, the scientific community and the public regarding sites under the employee's management
Review and interpret reports to determine if contaminant plumes are being monitored adequately and purpose courses of action if not
Apply research findings to help minimize environmental impacts and mitigate contamination risk to the public
Qualification
Required
High School, GED
Valid Driver's License - Incumbent is required to have and maintain a valid driver's license when operating a state vehicle, a private vehicle, or a rental vehicle for the benefit of the State
Four years' experience in environmental science with an emphasis on biology, chemistry, geology or a related natural science
The incumbent must pass a physical which certifies the individual can work in the necessary protective gear
A valid Kansas Tax Clearance Certificate is a condition of employment for all employees of the State of Kansas

Proofreading, editing, attention to detail
Ability to review technical data and good interpretation skills
Knowledge of environmental field techniques
Experience working with the Kansas Risk-Based Corrective Action evaluation process
Experience managing a large number of sites and prioritizing workload
Experience working with the petroleum contaminated storage tank sites
Experience working with the Kansas Storage Tank Program and related Federal and State regulations
Experience communicating effectively and professionally with the public
