Responsibilities
Support the CDPH mission through the development and implementation of the Maternal, Child and Adolescent Health (MCAH) Division’s Future of Public Health (FoPH) Mental and Behavioral Health Program and Children and Youth with Special Health Care Needs (CYSHCN) initiatives
Work under the general direction of the Health Program Manager II (HPM II ), Manager of the Community Resilience and Support Section (CORESS)
Serve as the Manager of the CORESS Local Program Support Unit providing leadership and oversight in the areas of mental and behavioral health and support for CYSHCN and their families
Work closely with state and local MCAH programs and their staff
Identify needs, emerging issues, develop trainings, resources and provide technical support related to primary prevention of behavioral and mental health challenges
Travel up to 10% in-State as required

If new to California state service, you will need to have taken and passed the examination for this classification in order to be hired for this position
If you are a current state employee, but do not have transfer eligibility or list eligibility, you will need to have taken and passed the examination for this classification in order to be hired for this position
The incumbent works under the general direction of the Health Program Manager II (HPM II), Manager of the Community Resilience and Support Section (CORESS)
The HPM I serves as the Manager of the CORESS Local Program Support Unit providing leadership and oversight in the areas of mental and behavioral health and support for CYSHCN and their families
The HPM I works closely with state and local MCAH programs and their staff; identifies needs, emerging issues, develops trainings, resources and provides technical support related to primary prevention of behavioral and mental health challenges
Up to 10% in-State travel is required
Candidates who reside outside of the state of California may be interviewed; however, the selected candidate must have a primary residency in the state of California prior to appointment (and continue to maintain California residency) as a condition of employment
Failure to meet this requirement may result in the job offer being rescinded
Travel may be required for this position
Reimbursement for travel takes into consideration an employee's designated headquarters, as reflected in the duty statement, and is subject to regulations and bargaining unit contract provisions
All commute expenses to the designated headquarters office will be the responsibility of the selected candidate
