The University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC) is seeking an accomplished leader to serve as Vice Chair of Research in the Department of Radiology. This role involves developing a nationally recognized research program, driving translational research initiatives, mentoring faculty and trainees, and securing funding to advance imaging science and improve patient outcomes.

Responsibilities
Develop a nationally recognized research program in radiology with a focus on innovation and clinical interdisciplinary collaboration
Collaborate with research divisions throughout the UNMC system including NCI designated Fred and Pamela Buffett Cancer Center
Manage translational research initiatives that combine basic science discoveries with clinical applications to improve patient care
Secure extramural funding through grants and strategic partnerships
Participate in departmental strategic planning, aligning research goals with the missions of the University of Nebraska Medical Center
Mentor faculty, residents, fellows, and medical students in research methodologies, scholarly productivity, and career development
Design, initiate, and lead investigator-driven imaging trials and develop competitive research proposals
Provide support for clinical trials in radiology and interface between research coordinator and interdisciplinary teams
Lead and further develop an established Tumor Metrics Lab in the Department of Radiology
Participate in tumor boards for multidisciplinary disease groups
Virtually no call: no primary evening/overnight/weekend shifts, only minimal back-up call for rare coverage during connectivity outages or to provide consultations on cases for our highly trained remote teleradiologists
Home workstations given to all faculty

Qualification
Required
Fellowship-trained radiologist
Proven record of exceptional clinical expertise in their radiology sub-specialty
Ability to develop a nationally recognized research program in radiology
Experience in driving translational research initiatives
Mentoring faculty and trainees in radiology research
Securing extramural funding to advance imaging science and improve patient outcomes
Collaboration with research divisions throughout the UNMC system
Management of translational research initiatives that combine basic science discoveries with clinical applications
Participation in departmental strategic planning
Mentoring faculty, residents, fellows, and medical students in research methodologies
Designing, initiating, and leading investigator-driven imaging trials
Providing support for clinical trials in radiology
Leading and further developing an established Tumor Metrics Lab in the Department of Radiology
Participation in tumor boards for multidisciplinary disease groups
Interest in tumor metrics / clinical response evaluation
Preferred
Expertise in theranostics
Background in informatics or artificial intelligence
Sub-specialty alignment based on departmental needs
