Responsibilities

Source and evaluate IP for licensing opportunities across books, web novels, digital fiction platforms, and other narrative media
Lead negotiations and close licensing deals day to day, including rights scope, territories, terms, and adaptation formats
Manage external relationships with authors, agents, publishers, studios, and digital platforms
Own the licensed deal pipeline end to end, from initial outreach through contract execution, onboarding, and internal handoff
Maintain and manage CRM and deal tracking systems, ensuring accurate, up-to-date records across all active and signed deals
Prepare weekly deal pipeline updates and reporting for leadership, clearly communicating status, risks, and next steps
Organize, track, and maintain signed agreements, amendments, and related documentation
Track deal terms, renewals, expirations, and compliance across the licensed content slate
Coordinate closely with Legal, Creative Development, Editorial, Production, and Finance to unblock issues and move deals forward efficiently
Own the onboarding process for newly signed rights holders, ensuring a smooth transition from contract to production readiness
Serve as the central point of accountability to ensure internal teams have what they need to execute on licensed content
Stay informed on market trends in publishing, digital fiction, and IP adaptation to inform acquisition strategy

Required

3+ years of experience in licensing, content acquisition, partnerships, business affairs, or rights management
Proven ability to independently negotiate and close IP licensing or partnership deals
Demonstrated ownership of deal operations, including CRM management, pipeline tracking, documentation, and leadership reporting
Background in publishing and/or digital-first storytelling platforms, with hands-on experience in adaptation-focused licensing
Strong understanding of IP rights, contract structures, and common licensing frameworks
Experience working with authors, agents, publishers, studios, or platform partners
Highly detail-oriented, organized, and proactive; comfortable managing multiple deals while coordinating cross-functional teams
Strong communicator who thrives in fast-paced, ambiguous environments

Preferred

Experience at early-stage or fast-growing content platforms (e.g., Wattpad, Substack, Beehiiv, microdrama platforms) and an existing publishing network are strong pluses
