We're looking for an ML Engineer Intern to help build our matching and personalization systems, working directly with our founding team to ship production ML that impacts real users.

Responsibilities
Build and iterate on our recommendation and ranking systems for local civic actions
Work with real user data to define success metrics and run experiments
Collaborate with product and design to make ML outputs interpretable and actionable
Implement logging, monitoring, and evaluation pipelines
Ship to production regularly with minimal hand-holding
Qualification
Required
Currently pursuing a BS or MS in Computer Science, Machine Learning, or a related field
Strong Python fundamentals and comfort with the PyData stack (NumPy, Pandas, scikit-learn)
Solid understanding of ML basics: embeddings, classification, ranking, and evaluation metrics
Experience with at least one deep learning framework (PyTorch preferred)
Ability to work independently and ship code without constant oversight
Available for 10-12 weeks, 40 hours/week
Preferred
Experience with recommendation systems, search relevance, or personalization
Familiarity with cloud infrastructure (GCP, AWS) and containerization (Docker)
Experience with experiment frameworks and A/B testing
Prior internship or project experience deploying ML models to production
Contributions to open-source ML projects
