Test Engineer (Hardware)

Responsibilities

Design and assemble test fixtures for signal conditioning, precision motors, and lifetime testing
Architect a holistic interface in LabVIEW (Real-Time/FPGA) to unify disparate standalone systems, drivers, and custom hardware
Integrate stand-alone systems or drivers into a holistic LabVIEW or FPGA interface
Collaborate with the research team to bring manual procedures and adjustments into automated scripts or routines
Add and qualify new hardware and instrumentation to the controls system as the design develops
Translate raw voltage, current, or waveforms into meaningful insights that inform continuous development
Act as the primary resource for debugging instrumentation faults, EMI/noise issues, and complex wiring failures
Establish scalable extraction and storage protocols for high-frequency time-series data sets
Develop Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) simulations to validate automation logic in a virtual environment before deployment on high-value hardware

Required

3+ years of experience in test or development setting with advanced instrumentation and data acquisition methods
Experience in LabVIEW especially with the Real-Time and FPGA Modules
B.S. or M.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field from an accredited university
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to document designs and collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams
Ability to work on-site in Austin, TX
This role will be exposed to export-controlled information and requires compliance with applicable export control laws and regulations

Preferred

Certified LabVIEW Developer or Architect
Experience in a highly technical industry such as aerospace, nuclear, semiconductor, or national laboratories
Experience working with lasers and the specific safety/alignment protocols involved
