VP of Lending
Mission City Federal Credit Union is a small-but-mighty financial cooperative focused on strengthening members’ financial health. The Vice President (VP) of Lending is a strategic leader responsible for managing all areas of consumer and mortgage lending to develop and grow the credit union’s loan portfolio.
Responsibilities
Participate in the credit union’s long and short term strategic planning
Set the lending department’s strategic plans to align with the credit union’s business plan. Establish and ensure the implementation of target goals for the department
Develop, implement, and monitor policies and procedures in accordance with credit union goals and strategies. Work with other departments to maintain consistency in credit union policies and procedures
Oversee all consumer lending operations functions including origination, processing, underwriting, closing/funding, and servicing. Manage loan origination systems, auto-decision engines, and lending partnerships
Oversee the development and monitoring of performance standards. Provide mentoring, coaching, or training to support and develop supervisors and staff
Research and evaluate the feasibility of new lending products. Develop and implement plans for expansion of lending programs
Ensure that consumer and mortgage loan policies, procedures, services, products, and documentation meet federal and state regulations
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of general economic conditions or changing trends that may affect the credit union. Provide timely feedback that allows the credit union to react competitively
Maintain knowledge of competitors' rates and terms and other trends relating to consumer lending. Construct products, rates, and terms that reflect the marketplace
Develop, analyze, and complete monthly loan reports. Develop procedures and reporting tools for effective information to flow through the department
Responsible for the ongoing servicing of residential mortgage loans
Promotes cross-sell opportunities throughout the organization's lines of business
Responsible for the collections and asset recovery
Represent and promote the credit union at external functions
Provides hands-on leadership in troubled debt restructures, loan modifications, and foreclosures
Provide effective oversight of all lending staff to ensure success across lending channels, including web, phone, and walk-ins. Ensure all channels are emphasized in pull-through rates. This includes loan production, funding, and cross-sales
Serve as the primary point of contact with Consumer, Real Estate, and collections lending vendors, including ancillary lending product vendors (i.e., MBI, CPI, Loan Protection)
Qualification
Required
Minimum of 5 years of progressive lending experience in a leadership/management role in a credit union or similar financial institution is required
Demonstrated experience presenting and working with Executive Management and Regulators
Thorough knowledge of financial institution loan products and applicable policies and standards in consumer and mortgage lending
Ability to effectively lead team to meet performance goals
Experience identifying opportunities to enhance member financial needs, goals and objectives
Strong verbal and written communication, and presentation skills
Heightened attention to detail, time management and organization
