Skills Inc., one of Washington State’s largest aerospace suppliers, is seeking an experienced Materials Specialist to join their team. The role involves receiving, verifying, and keeping records on incoming and outgoing materials in the CMP Cage.

Responsibilities

Compare identifying information and count, weigh, or measure incoming materials to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, and other records
Receive customer orders and input into MRP system
Unpack and examine incoming shipments, reject damaged items, record shortages, and correspond with shipper to rectify damages and shortages
Route received material to appropriate departments
Operate forklift lift or uses hand truck to move, convey, or hoist shipments
Develop constructive and cooperative working relationships with others and maintain them over time
Identify opportunities for process improvement and increased efficiency

Required

Experience as a Materials Specialist
Ability to receive, verify, and keep records on incoming and outgoing materials
Skill in comparing identifying information and counting, weighing, or measuring incoming materials
Ability to receive customer orders and input into MRP system
Skill in unpacking and examining incoming shipments, rejecting damaged items, recording shortages, and corresponding with shippers
Ability to route received material to appropriate departments
Skill in operating a forklift or using a hand truck to move, convey, or hoist shipments
Ability to develop constructive and cooperative working relationships with others
Skill in identifying opportunities for process improvement and increased efficiency
Ability to read, write, and communicate in English through verbal communication, American Sign Language, or adaptive technology
Ability to access and hold in confidence certain information
Ability to perform physical demands of the job including constant exposure to indoor manufacturing environment, frequent lifting and moving up to 25lbs, and occasional lifting and moving up to 40 lbs

Preferred

Skill in advanced computer functions in a Windows environment including Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, and Outlook
Ability to work in an Aerospace manufacturing environment
Skill in prioritizing and managing a fast paced work environment
Skill in organizing, identifying, estimating, and recognizing differences or similarities with excellent attention to detail
Ability to use measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers and other inspection gauges
Skill in performing mid-level math skills efficiently and accurately (including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals)
Ability to take direction from lead and supervisor to complete assigned tasks
Ability to communicate information clearly and directly to co-workers and supervisory personnel both verbally and in writing
High school Diploma/GED
