They are seeking a Senior Electron Optics Engineer to lead the R&D, manufacturing, and delivery of eProbe electron beam inspection systems, responsible for design and simulation from concept to high volume manufacturing.

Responsibilities
Lead electron optics simulations to drive column architecture design improvements
Use simulations to drive new modes of column operation
Hands-on work operating and characterizing electron beam columns; collect data to validate simulations results
Bring up new columns, guns, and operate test fixtures
Run simulations needed for column design: heat transfer, vacuum, high voltage, electrostatics, solid mechanics, surface charging, and beam trajectories
Create system requirements, error budgets, tolerance analysis stack-ups and test plans
Design and simulate non-rotationally symmetric column elements such as Wien filters and high precision energy filters
Develop and optimize the performance of high brightness electron sources; lead research projects to study source brightness, emission stability, lifetime and energy spread
Identify and investigate innovative concepts and technologies for performance improvements
Qualification
Required
PhD in physics, electrical/mechanical engineering, materials science, or a related field, and over 5 years of relevant work experience
Expertise in electron optics and a proven track record of designing and operating electron beam inspection systems
Background in the design, modeling, testing and characterization of electron sources
Proficiency with electron optics simulation software (eg. MEBS, SIMION)
Experience running finite element software packages (e.g. COMSOL, OPERA)
Proficiency with a scripting language (e.g. Python, Matlab)
Experience with CAD software (e.g. SOLIDWORKS)
Experience with high vacuum systems
Experience with high voltage power supplies and electron beam electronics
Knowledge of surface science and experience running simulations of electron-material interactions (e.g. simulations packages such as JMONSEL)
Preferred
Prior experience with voltage contrast imaging is valuable
Background in advanced semiconductor manufacturing and manufacturing tools
