Responsibilities

Lead, coordinate, and participate in new product design and engineering sustainment of systems and products with particular emphasis for embedded aerospace controls
Performs full lifecycle electronic hardware development and activities to industry standards ARP4754a and DO-254 in a team environment. Matures process for successful completion of program(s) following GA and aerospace electronic hardware industry standards for commercial, military, and space applications. Interfaces with systems and software while performing electronic hardware development
Lead development of proposals and product development planning
Design complex Circuit Card Assembly (CCA), including supporting system trades, developing hardware module requirements derived from system requirements, developing architectures, completing design, analysis, and testing in an engineering laboratory setting
Performs electrical hardware box level design and Printed Board Assembly (PBA) level requirements development, preliminary and detailed design, design verification, and qualification
Designs for modern processing technologies and architectures in particular for micro-processors, flash memories, high speed physical communication and interconnects, and interfaces to motor control and sensors. Possible future development with and FPGAs
Ensures and guides designs are developed meeting industry standards for process using DO-254, and environmental/EMI/EMC of RTCA DO-160, MIL-STD 461, MIL STD-810
Utilizes design tools such as Mentor Graphics Design Tools, Altium Designer, Mathcad, MS Excel, and LTSpice with demonstrated experience designing, simulating and analyzing in support of achieving design requirements
Generates Printed Wiring Board (PWB) layout constraint guidelines, oversee the layout and fabrication of the design
Represent the organization as a prime technical contact on development projects

Required

Typically requires a bachelors degree, masters degree or PhD in engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution and progressive engineering experience as follows; nine or more years of experience with a bachelors degree, seven or more years of experience with a masters degree, or four or more years with a PhD. May substitute equivalent engineering experience in lieu of education
Must have experience of electronic hardware development, principles, and theory and demonstrate understanding of analog and digital circuit design and concepts
Ability to organize, schedule, and coordinate work phases and, determine the appropriate approach at the task level or at the project level and to provide solutions to a range of complex problems
Capable of representing the organization as a prime technical contact, as well as providing leadership and guidance to less experienced colleagues
Must have strong communication, computer, documentation, presentation, and interpersonal skills, ability to work independently and as part of a team; and, lead a team of less experienced professional employees on semi-routine tasks
Analog Circuit Design, SPICE circuit simulation tools, Experience with Altium or PADS PCB Design Software, Mentor Graphics Design Tools, Altium Designer, Mathcad, and MS Excel tools
Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Power Point)
Aerospace industry standards experience, ARP4754a, DO-254, requirements development and management, hardware design, hardware test, use of requirements management tools such as DOORS and JAMA
Experience mentoring and developing technical talent
Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Security Clearance is required
