Responsibilities

Conduct regular field sampling and testing of water, air, and soil quality to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
Input, manage, and analyze environmental data. Assist in preparing detailed technical reports, permit applications, and compliance documentation for regulatory agencies (e.g., EPA, DNR, MPCA)
Perform site inspections of active construction areas (e.g., tailings, roads, processing facilities). Inspect and document erosion and sediment control measures (e.g., silt fences, berms, covers) to ensure compliance with Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP). Verify the proper installation and maintenance of Best Management Practices (BMPs) for stormwater management
Maintain accurate field notes, sample logs, and inspection records. Enter data into databases and assist with preparing reports for internal use and regulatory agencies
Assist with environmental audits, assessments, and general fieldwork. Support project managers with environmental compliance tasks for site reclamation and development
Work closely with a multidisciplinary team of engineers, scientists, geologists, and operations personnel to resolve environmental or operational problems
Participate in safety and environmental training sessions and assist in developing environmental awareness materials for site personnel

Required

Solid understanding of environmental science fundamentals
Basic knowledge of environmental regulations
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and written/oral communication skills
Attention to detail and the ability to work independently and as part of a team
Possession of a current, valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record
Currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science (BS) or Master of Science (MS) degree in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, Geology, Environmental Science, or a related discipline from an accredited university

Preferred

Experience with relevant software such as AutoCAD or GIS
