High School Assistant Principal - 3 Positions Available (Control Code:TBD )
Valley View School District 365U is seeking an Assistant Principal for their high school. The role involves assisting in the leadership, administration, and coordination of the school, including supervising staff and overseeing various educational programs and activities.

Responsibilities
Apply knowledge of effective practices for supervision of a high school that matches the intellectual, social, emotional, and physical needs of high school students
Assist the Principal in the administration, supervision, and leadership of the school and assume responsibility for the full operation of the school in the absence of the principal as directed
Assist the Principal in interviewing and hiring of faculty and staff
Assist the Principal in teacher and staff evaluations
Assist the Principal establishing instructional practices following a continuous improvement model, providing activities and programs for instructional improvement including professional learning, orientation, and curriculum workshops and seminars
Provide leadership in curriculum research, planning and evaluation
Participate in articulation within the school and between schools, with a focus on students, families and the community
Serve as administrative liaison to various district meetings when assigned
Assist with supervision, in all areas of the school, including events outside of the school day
Perform other duties as may be assigned by the Principal
Assist the Principal in preparation of the budget including the authorization of purchases and monitoring of expenditures
Assist the Principal in the organization, preparation and execution of all-school testing and assessment activities
Provide effective leadership in the development and implementation of the building's academic programming and multi-tiered systems of support
Provide effective leadership in the development and implementation of the building's student discipline program along with supervising and coordinating the work of internal and external stakeholders playing a role in ensuring a safe and orderly learning environment
Provide leadership and coordinate the work of specialized group of educators (school nurses, psychologists, social workers, speech clinicians, etc.)
Provide leadership in the development of the school's master schedule and annual registration process
Provide leadership in supervising building and grounds
Work closely with the Executive Director of Student Services to facilitate special education and other student services in the building
Supervise the Guidance and Counseling Office and the registrar, including maintenance of student records
Supervise the operation of the procedures for all substitute teachers in the building
Supervise the operations and performance of educational support personnel, including maintenance, security, and paraprofessionals
Supervise the investigation of all disturbances and emergencies and conduct fire and tornado/disaster drills including the completion of appropriate reports
Supervise all aspects of the co-curricular program, including sports, clubs and activities
Serve as the Principal for the summer school program
Facilitate the communication, record keeping, and follow-up of student attendance concerns with appropriate District administrators
Serve as the building Homeless Liaison
Coordinate and organize student activities and special events related to school climate, student recognition and graduation, and oversee the development of the yearly activities calendar
Coordinate activity field trips including transportation, giving approval for such trips, notifying the faculty of students going on the trip, placing the trip on the master calendar and arranging for substitutes
Coordinate all transportation needs of the school in cooperation with the Director of Transportation
Coordinate the assignment of student teachers within the building, including orientation of the student teachers, working with supervising teachers, university supervisors and Human Resources
Organize and supervise the procurement, issuance, maintenance, collection and storage of textbooks; supervise the collection of all student fees, fines and other obligations; and maintain accurate student records
Gather and compile data to assist with the preparation of state reports as assigned
Schedule all building usage, including after school programs
Qualification
Required
Master's Degree, from an accredited college or university, with training in administration and supervision
Appropriate Illinois credentials to evaluate certified staff
Valid Illinois Professional Educator License with appropriate administrative endorsement (ie: Principal, Superintendent, etc.)
Five years of successful teaching experience, preferably at the high school level
An administrative leadership style based on effective human relations and a student focused continuous improvement model
Evidence of relationship-building, communication, and organizational skills
Evidence of regular engagement in and desire to continue professional learning, implementation, and reflection
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with interruptions
Experience with integration of instructional technology to enhance delivery and learning
Demonstrated use of strategies for ensuring equitable practices in a diverse learning environment
Effective communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills with a record of building relationships that foster collegial trust, promote teacher efficacy, aspire to high expectations and accountability, and maintain a common instructional focus
Demonstrated knowledge of best practices in curriculum and instruction at the high school level
Serve as a role model for all students and perform their duties to create an environment that is conducive to providing students an enhanced and engaged learning opportunity
Preferred
Previous administrative or supervisory experience at the high school level is preferred
Participation in Continuous Improvement efforts and demonstrated success with application of Continuous Improvement methodology in practice
