Business Development Representative (Contract)

Fondo is an all-in-one accounting platform built for startups, automating bookkeeping and taxes for high-growth companies. The Business Development Representative will focus on nurturing inbound leads and preparing them for sales-qualified handoff to the internal sales team.

Responsibilities

Maintain visibility into assigned leads and opportunities for tracking and qualification purposes only
Review new subscribers, prospects, and inbound leads to assess fit, readiness, and intent
Identify and document qualification signals, including timing, scope, urgency, and service alignment
Respond to high-level, non-technical inquiries about services in a neutral, non-pushy manner
Send thoughtful, personalized follow-ups to support clarity and next-step alignment
Refine outreach and engagement approach based on observed response patterns and outcomes
Update contact and company records based on insights gathered during early interactions
Log calls, emails, and notes in HubSpot
Capture and summarize context needed to support smooth internal handoff
Flag leads that demonstrate clear intent or request next steps (e.g., booking a sales meeting or completing the Quick Service sign-up)
Route qualified leads to the internal sales team once readiness criteria are met
Provide concise qualification notes and relevant context prior to handoff

Required

1-2 years of experience in inbound sales development, lead qualification, or customer-facing sales (ideally in the finance industry and startup environments)
Experience using HubSpot or a similar CRM
Experience building/launching sales sequences and automations
Strong written communication and follow-up skills
Comfortable qualifying interest without overselling and speaking with founders and executives
Organized, detail-oriented, and accountable
Ability to manage work independently with strong organization and attention to detail
