Senior Technical Accountant - Product Development
General Motors is looking for an innovative, forward-thinking, detail-oriented accountant to join their Product Development Controller Group. The Senior Technical Accountant is responsible for understanding GM’s global emissions compliance status and related impacts on accounting, while also playing a key role in contract review and ad hoc projects.

Responsibilities
Coordinate, monitor and analyze results of emissions accounting process
Support and collaborate with finance, business partners, and other key stakeholders, to ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and GM’s Accounting Policy Manual (APM) requirements, effective controls and accurate reporting
Analysis and reporting of month-end Product Development related results
Assist with internal and external financial reporting, including analyzing consolidated results, drafting SEC documents and management review reports
Navigate and understand various general ledger and consolidations
Oversight, review and consolidation of all vehicle supply agreement related contracts and associated processes, including enhancements, modernization and expansion of current processes
Utilize new technologies and solutions to create more robust controls, process efficiencies and impactful reporting packages
Initiate and support enhancements that improve the quality and speed of the monthly close process
Presentation of financial results to other members of the organization including leadership
Assist with special projects and ad hoc requests
Develop strong relationship with business partners support requests/inquiries including Controllership, Finance, International and various other operational partners
Maintain controls and work with Financial Assurance and external auditors to support audit requirements, streamline existing business processes and develop new/enhanced control procedures
Model GM’s desired behaviors including safety
Actively promote GM’s culture of inclusion
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance
3 to 5 years of experience in accounting or controllership (technical accounting preferred)
Preferred
CPA
Knowledge and experience working enterprise accounting system (SAP preferred)
Experience writing technical white papers
