This role is responsible for ensuring accurate assessments, minimizing tax risk, and supporting strategic business decisions across operations.

Responsibilities

Evaluate ad valorem tax laws to identify planning opportunities for assets, acquisitions, and projects

Review property tax valuations for complex assets, ensuring accuracy, regulatory compliance, and identifying any opportunities for tax savings

Advocate for the company in negotiations with taxing authorities, appraisers, and review boards to secure fair valuations and resolve disputes

Track state tax law changes, analyze impacts, and communicate findings to leadership

Prepare multi-state property tax returns, estimated payments, extensions, and quarterly provisions with accurate reconciliations

Assess property tax implications for mergers and acquisitions

Represent the company during audits and defend positions claimed on returns

Identify and implement efficiencies in tax processes

Lead ad valorem tax budgeting and forecasting activities

Required

Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field

8+ years in oil and gas or related industry with extensive property tax expertise

Multi-state property tax compliance and valuation appeals

Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (complex formulas, pivot tables, data analysis)

Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, excellent communication, and ability to manage priorities in a fast-paced environment

Preferred

Familiarity with itamlink software
