Senior Director Operational Finance Philanthropy

CommonSpirit Health is seeking a Senior Director of Operational Finance Philanthropy to provide strategic financial leadership for Barrow Neurological Foundation. This role involves overseeing financial planning, reporting, and compliance while partnering with various stakeholders to ensure the foundation's long-term sustainability and growth.

Responsibilities

Partner with the President, Board of Trustees, and BNI leadership on strategic financial planning, decision support, and long-range sustainability
Lead development of annual operating budgets, forecasts, and long-term financial plans; oversee FTE planning and quarterly reporting to the Finance and Investment Committee, Executive Committee, and the Board
Provide comprehensive oversight and management in the areas of accounting, tax matters, and financial reporting, including Ivy Brain Tumor Center's monthly financials, balance sheets, statements of activities, pledge summaries, tax returns, and endowment reporting for the Foundation, including the Ivy Brain Tumor Center
Oversee all financial aspects of NeuroTrials, including funding, reporting, pledge and construction tracking, preparation of board materials, and collaboration with external partners
Support the NeuroTrials Board with monthly meetings, board packets, financial statements, and minutes; ensure timely reporting and distribution of materials
Ensure strong financial controls, audit readiness, and compliance across foundations; coordinate annual audit processes and completion of the IRS Form 990 with outside auditors
Provide financial support for the Finance & Investment Committee, including quarterly performance updates, materials, financial statements, and meeting minutes
Manage the Grants Committee work plan, grant cycle processes and procedures, speaker series, and timely reporting to donors, funders, and CommonSpirit Philanthropy
Collaborate with the Foundation's outside investment firm to review portfolio performance, ensure alignment with investment strategy, execute portfolio transactions, and support Board oversight
Partner with the Women's Board to monitor and manage their financial performance, including budgeting, reporting, cash planning and management, and strategic resource allocation
Monitor financial performance, identify risks, and recommend corrective actions to improve results
Drive efficiency and cost savings through system contracting, requests for proposals, and alignment with CommonSpirit policies
Direct special projects related to strategic growth, resource allocation, and financial performance improvement

Required

Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field is required, or a combination of education and/or additional job-related experience may be substituted in lieu of the degree
Seven (7) years of experience in philanthropy accounting/finance preferred
Five (5) years experience in a senior management role
Demonstrated accomplishments successfully dealing with major strategy and operational issues
Experience facilitating progressive organizational change and development within a growing organization

Investment experience
Knowledge of nonprofit and public charity rules and regulations
Google Workspace proficiency
General ledger accounting systems
CRM and Lawson experience
