Staff Accountant

Community Behavioral Health is seeking a Staff Accountant responsible for supporting day-to-day accounting operations and ensuring accurate financial records. The role involves assisting with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes while collaborating with the accounting and finance team to maintain compliance and improve processes.

Responsibilities

Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and adjustments
Perform monthly account reconciliations (bank, balance sheet, and select income statement accounts)
Assist with month-end, quarter-end and year-end close activities
Support accounts payable and receivable processes as needed
Maintain accurate and organized financial records in accordance with GAAP
Assist with audit requests and provide supporting documentation
Prepare financial schedules and reports for internal use
Monitor transactions for accuracy and resolve discrepancies
Review invoices to determine appropriate and accurate general ledger (GL) coding
Collaborate with internal departments to ensure proper financial coding and compliance
Prepare, review, and reconcile invoices related to quarterly billing, grant billing, and contract-based billing
Perform billing and invoice reconciliations to ensure amounts billed aligned with expenditures, contracts, and grant agreements
Support process improvements and documentation of accounting procedures

Required

Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
At least 1 year of accounting or related experience
Working knowledge of GAAP
Proficiency in Microsoft excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP preferred)
Experience with accounting or ERP systems (e.g., Dynamic Great Plains, 360 Business Central, or similar)
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
The successful candidate must be a current Philadelphia resident or become a resident within six months of hire
All candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States without requiring sponsorship now or in the future
