Supervisor of Laboratory Services
Southwest Transplant Alliance is responsible for performing complex scientific tests on blood and bodily fluids. The Supervisor of Laboratory Services will lead a technologist team, ensuring compliance with operating procedures while overseeing the daily operations of the laboratory section and maintaining quality standards.

Responsibilities
The incumbent will maintain all the essential job functions and responsibilities of Lab Techs I-III
Provide daily oversight of the assigned laboratory section
Ensures all task related to their assigned section are performed in a timely manner and according to established policies, procedures and regulatory requirements
Ensures procedures are accurate, current, and that changes are documented appropriately
Reviews quality control records for adherence to established policies and procedures
Reviews quality assurance records to ensure adequate corrective action is taken in all cases while identifying areas of potential improvement
Oversees preventative maintenance and/or repairs to equipment and instrumentation including contacting vendors where appropriate
Ensures adequate inventory is available at all times
Preparing reagents or media from a prescribed procedure
Evaluating media, reagents, and calibrators according to established criteria
Provides technical assistance regarding the assigned laboratory section
Serves as the primary contact for technical questions and problems
Is available by phone at all times to provide consultation as needed
Coordinates training of laboratory staff within the assigned section
Coordinates competency assessments of laboratory staff within the assigned section
Reviews and summarizes proficiency testing results
Writes laboratory procedures and forms conforming to standardized format
Coordinates and presents validations, test developments, quality assurance, research, and/or process improvement projects as assigned by the Director of Laboratory Services and/or Laboratory Managers
Participates in interviewing and evaluating candidates for hire
Create an inspiring team environment with open communication
Assists in the development and implementation of laboratory strategic plan
Performs other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in a chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory science, or medical technology from an accredited institution
Minimum of 2 years' experience in a CLIA and ASHI (or equivalent) accredited laboratory
Current Driver's license required
Knowledge of the principles, methods, materials, equipment, and techniques of medical technology
Knowledge of recent developments in the field of medical technology
Ability to perform assigned tasks according to prescribed procedures and to make accurate observations and records of test results
Demonstrates analytical thinking
Must have the ability to provide clear written and oral instructions related to complex processes
Excellent oral, written, and documentation skills
Must have the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of personnel and to represent the organization publicly
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team required
Ability to cope with high levels of stress and able to handle a heavy workload
Ability to be flexible in a dynamic work environment
Ability to travel in light and commercial aircraft or drive his/her personal auto in order to meet all job duties and responsibilities
Ability to lift/push/pull packages up to 20lbs
Manual dexterity to operate phones
Keyboard literacy and dexterity sufficient to type
Ability to safely operate standard office equipment
Manual dexterity to organize and file paper documents in folders and ability to sort files, alphabetically, numerically, and chronologically
Ability to focus from 1.5 feet on a 12-inch computer monitor
Preferred
Minimum of 2 years' experience in the designated laboratory section of which they are supervising is preferred
Current certification as a certified Histocompatibility Technologist of Specialist (ACHI) is preferred
