The State of Florida is seeking a Regulatory Specialist III within the Department of Health. This role involves providing guidance on health care licensure processes and conducting regulatory activities for multiple professions, requiring independent judgment and expertise in statutory interpretation.
Government Administration
Responsibilities
Provide information, guidance, direction, and assistance with health care licensure processes for highly complex applications
Perform professional and regulatory activities for the Board of Clinical Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy and Mental Health Counseling
Exercise independent authority to approve or escalate licensure applications in accordance with Chapters 456 and 491, Florida Statutes, and applicable Board rules
Review and analyze exam, endorsement, provisional, limited licensure, and registered intern applications for the 491 professions
Respond to high level telephonic and email inquiries regarding intern registration, licensure applications, renewal requirements, and continuing education standards
Assist with board meeting preparation by reviewing and organizing licensure applications scheduled for Board consideration
Evaluate board packages for completeness and accuracy, ensuring all required documentation is included and properly formatted
Issue meeting notices once the agenda materials are approved
Implement Board directives, including issuing licenses, updating licensure records, and completing all required post meeting actions
Prepare and review applications for continuing education programs and providers
Conduct audits of continuing education providers, including review of documents submitted to determine compliance with laws and rules
Assist the Program Operations Administrator and Regulatory Supervisor with interviews and hiring new employees that will process the 491 professions registered intern and licensure applications
Qualification
Required
Excellent communication, interpersonal, facilitation, and presentation skills
Ability to analyze and understand laws and rules
Ability to conduct fact finding research
Ability to utilize problem-solving techniques
Ability to work independently and with a team to prioritize work, manage projects, and meet deadlines
Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments
High School Diploma or equivalent and 2 years' experience that includes data entry, document preparation, computer software use, evaluating legal documents or evaluating for compliance with regulations, customer service, or handling sensitive information
College education can substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis
