LAN-Based Network Support Engineer

VDart, Inc. is seeking a LAN-Based Network Support Engineer to support the build, configuration, and validation of LAN-based network systems for customer environments. This hands-on role involves hardware installation, server configuration, and software stack integration to meet client specifications and successfully pass Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) audits.

Computer Software

Responsibilities

Install and configure customer hardware including thick and thin clients, switches, root bridges, servers, firewalls, and time servers
Mount hardware on desks and network racks; perform structured cabling per client interconnect drawings (fiber, Cat6e, power)
Build and integrate the complete software stack on installed hardware
De-harden systems and execute scripts for initial hardware and OS setup
Install OS, middleware, and client/third-party cybersecurity software
Test redundancy, failover, intrusion detection, and data flow through firewalls
Document and track defects and NCNs (Non-Conforming Notices) and implement fixes
Support Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and customer witness testing (onsite and remote)
Collaborate with customer engineering teams to standardize processes across global sites
Support project timelines to ensure on-time delivery
Package and ship completed systems in accordance with customer specifications

Required

Strong knowledge of LAN networking: TCP/IP, VLAN, DNS, DHCP
Hands-on experience with Windows Server and/or Linux Server
Experience with Active Directory, Group Policy (GPO), File Servers
Knowledge of thin client technologies: Citrix, RDP, VDI, VMware Horizon
Understanding of thick client OS support (Windows/Linux)
Basic knowledge of firewalls and network security concepts
Experience with hardware installation, rack & stack, and structured cabling

Willingness to support onsite and remote customer testing
Hardware installation and wiring (thick & thin clients, switches, servers, firewalls)
Strong LAN networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, VLAN, DNS, DHCP)

Preferred

Virtualization experience: VMware, Hyper-V
Experience working in audit-driven or FAT-tested environments
Familiarity with cybersecurity tools and endpoint protection solutions
