Responsibilities
Own the full monthly, quarterly, and annual close process across multiple real estate entities
Prepare and review consolidated financial statements in accordance with GAAP
Oversee general ledger activity, journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations
Ensure accurate financial reporting at the property, portfolio, and entity level
Oversee property-level accounting, including CAM reconciliations, lease accounting, and property operating statements
Review and manage lender reporting, loan compliance, and covenant tracking
Partner with property management and asset management teams on budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
Support acquisitions, dispositions, and refinancing activity from an accounting perspective
Manage cash flow forecasting and liquidity planning across the portfolio
Oversee banking relationships and cash movement between entities
Lead annual budgeting and periodic reforecasting processes
Serve as primary liaison with external auditors and tax advisors
Support annual audits, tax filings, and required financial schedules
Maintain strong internal controls and document accounting policies and procedures
Act as a trusted accounting partner to ownership and senior leadership
Provide clear, accurate financial insights to support operational and investment decisions
Bring structure and process improvement while remaining flexible in a lean environment
Qualification
Required
10+ years of progressive accounting experience, with significant real estate or property management exposure
Prior experience as a Controller, Portfolio Controller, Director of Accounting, or Senior Accounting Manager in a real estate-focused environment
Strong knowledge of GAAP and real estate accounting concepts (CAMs, leases, multi-entity structures)
Comfortable working directly with ownership in a high-trust, low-ego environment
Hands-on mindset — not just managing, but doing
Preferred
Experience working in lean organizations or owner-operator environments
