Responsibilities

You will perform electronic, electrical, electro-mechanical, pre-arrival, material condition, in-process, product, pre-test, and test inspections, to certify and accept completed work reviews on nuclear reactor plant, refueling, and overhaul work
You will perform receipt inspection, pre-use inspection, and marking verification of naval nuclear material ensuring proper material control and traceability is maintained
You will ensure reactor grade cleanliness is maintained in accordance with local directives as required by Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) specifications for reactor plant cleanliness
You will be responsible for ensuring and documenting reactor grade cleanliness of shipboard systems by performing surveillance inspections and performing a final inspection prior to final system closure
You will independently initiate and authorize rejection of workmanship, components, materials, and procedures that do not meet specifications by preparing a Nuclear Deficiency report
You will maintain records of inspections performed and results of these inspections and corrective action taken in accordance with local directives
You will ensure that during the performance of duties, due consideration is given to the safety of ships, equipment, and personnel
You will perform surveillance of ongoing or completed work to ensure compliance with all applicable directives
You will interpret diagrams, specifications, drawings and interrelated procedure and technical requirements to most critical job applications

Required

Must be a US Citizen
Must be determined suitable for federal employment
Must participate in the direct deposit pay program

This is a bargaining unit position
You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination
You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty
You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift
Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present
This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites
Work may require lifting, and or carrying, generally not in excess of forty (44) pounds
Work requires the ability to perform inspections in confined spaces for prolonged periods of time in standing, stooping, or crouching positions
Work requires the physical ability to perform duties in areas reached by ascending or descending ladders, staging, stairs and etc
You will be required to work onboard ships
Work requires the incumbent to possess normal color sensitivity, muscular coordination, visual acuity, and be able to make decisions in unusual situations
Employee will be required to meet physical and training requirements to become a qualified radiation worker
This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements
