Responsibilities

You will provide explosive safety and ordnance logistics policy support to the Commander, Military Sealift Command (COMSC)
You will perform AAandE Explosive Safety duties and inspections in a world-wide command and fleet that provides strategic and operational sealift to meet national defense objectives
You will provide explosive safety and ordnance logistics support for the Military Sealift Command (MSC) force necessary to achieve assigned missions
You will ensure that MSC ships and shore facilities handle and store ordnance and weapons in accordance with current regulatory requirements and instructions from higher authority

Required

Must be a US Citizen
Must be determined suitable for federal employment
Must participate in the direct deposit pay program
New employees to the Department of the Navy will be required to successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check
Generally, current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level
Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326
Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service
This is a bargaining unit position
You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty
You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver's license
You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases
This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites
This position is considered Key/Emergency-Essential
You will be required to obtain and maintain a current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector
Experience providing on-site maintenance and operation training for installed shipboard arms, ammunition and explosives (AA&E) magazine sprinkler systems
Experience inspecting explosive safety management programs, analyzing explosive safety inspection reports, incident reports, inventory records, and qualification and certification program records
Experience conducting measurements, operational, and functional tests evaluating system effectiveness to meet established certification standards and directives
Experience advising program managers concerning AA&E stowage requirements necessary for compliance with higher authority
Experience inspecting installed shipboard AA&E sprinkler systems for conformance to establish specifications
