Responsibilities
Facilitating 1-hour outdoor life-skills sessions (public speaking, focus, leadership, teamwork) using nature-based challenges and adventure-oriented activities
Conducting brief, results-focused motivation sessions where you guide students toward achieving academic milestones with adaptive software tools
Animating curriculum through storytelling, personalization, and dynamic energy that sustains high engagement among K-12 students
Implementing safety standards and outdoor best practices (route selection, weather monitoring, equipment checks, Leave No Trace principles) according to Waypoint's field protocols
Evaluating skill acquisition by having students demonstrate real-world application of the life skills they've learned
Maintaining a rigorous standard of excellence while serving as an approachable, motivating role model students genuinely respect and admire
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in any field
At least 3 years of hands-on experience with K-12 students in educational, camp, coaching, or outdoor program settings
Documented history of high achievement in academic, athletic, or professional domains
Strong public speaking ability with the capacity to energize and maintain attention across large student groups, both indoors and outdoors
Authentic ability to connect with K-12 learners, their interests, and their world—not as a peer, but as a positive role model who challenges them to excel
Legal authorization to work in the United States without requiring visa sponsorship
Availability to work on-site at Waypoint Academy's Dripping Springs, TX campus (Austin area)
Preferred
First aid or wilderness safety certification
