Junior Accountant

Yanez Construction is seeking a detail-oriented and highly motivated Junior Accountant to join their accounting team. The role involves assisting with the preparation of financial statements, supporting the accounts payable and receivable departments, and performing various accounting tasks to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial records.

Responsibilities

Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
Reconcile bank statements and general ledger accounts
Support the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts
Assist in processing and verifying invoices for accuracy and proper authorization
Help ensure timely payment of vendor invoices and resolve any discrepancies
Maintain accurate and up-to-date AP files and records
Assist in reconciling AP transactions to ensure correct ledger postings
Support the preparation and processing of electronic transfers and payments
Monitor accounts to ensure payments are up to date
Communicate with vendors regarding payment inquiries and issues
Assist in processing incoming payments and recording transactions accurately
Help ensure timely collection of outstanding receivables
Communicate with clients regarding overdue accounts and payment plans
Maintain accurate and up-to-date AR files and records
Assist in reconciling AR transactions to ensure correct ledger postings
Support the preparation and processing of customer statements and invoices
Monitor accounts to ensure payments are received promptly
Assist in the month-end and year-end close processes
Post journal entries and perform regular ledger maintenance
Assist in the preparation of tax filings and compliance reporting
Participate in internal and external audits as needed
Maintain and update financial databases and accounting software systems
Generate financial reports and summaries as required
Ensure data accuracy and integrity in all financial records
Provide support to the accounting team on ad-hoc projects and tasks
Collaborate with other departments to ensure accounting processes run smoothly
Continuously seek opportunities for process improvement

Required

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field
1-2 years of accounting experience, preferably in accounts payable
Proficiency in accounting software and MS Office Suite, particularly Excel
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
Good communication skills, both written and verbal
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
