Prin Regulatory Cnslt
Consumers Energy is Michigan’s largest energy provider, providing natural gas and/or electricity to 6.8 million of the state’s 10 million residents. The Principal Regulatory Consultant provides strategic support and ownership of the Regulatory processes for Regulatory Policy, including Rate Case filings and stakeholder engagements, to ensure maximum recovery and support of the Company's Regulatory Strategy objectives.

Responsibilities
Drive the Company and team’s regulatory initiatives by developing and sponsoring testimony in Michigan Public Service Commission proceedings, and working with internal and external partners to ensure operational consistency with the positions advocated and approved in the proceedings
Manage regulatory filings with internal and external business partners
Benchmark regulatory frameworks to inform management of potential risks and opportunities
Analyze the strategic, operating and financial impacts of business proposals and/or external regulatory / legislative proposals
Manage monthly and annual regulatory reporting with internal and external business partners
Oversee Creation of stakeholder analyses and engagement strategy with key stakeholders and intervenors to ensure maximum recovery
Other duties as assigned or may be necessary
Qualification
Required
Proven ability to work across multiple aspects of the electric utility industry
Advanced MS Office skills
Broad understanding of the principles of rate-making at retail and wholesale levels
Significant knowledge of the regulatory process, testimonial requirements and procedures for state commissions and FERC
Expert ability to think systemically and complete multiple tasks simultaneously with a significant attention to detail
Expert ability to create and deliver presentations with significant verbal and written communication skills
Bachelor's Degree in Political Science, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Engineering or similar and 7 - 10 years of experience working in roles with regulatory process responsibility and support
OR Associate's Degree in Political Science, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Engineering or similar and 9 - 12 years of experience working in roles with regulatory process responsibility and support
OR High School Diploma and 11 - 14 years of experience working in roles with regulatory process responsibility and support
