Gladstone Institutes is a leading independent research organization dedicated to improving human health through biomedical research. The Conklin Laboratory is seeking a motivated Research Associate to conduct experiments related to genome editing and DNA repair, particularly using human motor neurons as a model system.

Responsibilities

Conduct molecular and cell biology experiments related to genome editing and DNA repair
Perform mammalian cell culture (human and animal), including maintenance and differentiation of motor neurons
Assist in assay development, data collection, and quantitative analysis
Process animal tissue samples (e.g. DNA/RNA isolation, tissue staining) (no live animal handling will be required in this role)
Collaborate closely with team members and external collaborators
Maintain detailed and organized experimental records
Contribute to lab meetings and presentations of research findings
Support general laboratory operations, including reagent preparation and equipment maintenance

Required

Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) in Biology, Molecular Biology, Genetics, Biochemistry, or a related field preferred
9+ months of laboratory research experience
Strong foundation in molecular biology techniques (e.g., PCR, cloning, Western blotting)
Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a dynamic research environment

Experience with mammalian cell culture
