Responsibilities
Manage and maintain the general ledger, ensuring all entries are accurate and compliant with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards)
Perform balance sheet reconciliations regularly to verify account accuracy and identify discrepancies promptly
Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, ensuring timely payments and collections while adhering to organizational policies
Prepare detailed financial reports, including regulatory filings, financial statements, and management reports that support strategic decision-making
Conduct cash management activities, including forecasting cash flow needs and optimizing liquidity positions
Ensure compliance with SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) controls and other regulatory requirements relevant to nonprofit, governmental, or public accounting sectors
Assist with budgeting processes, variance analysis, and financial forecasting to support organizational planning
Utilize accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, or similar platforms for daily transactions and reporting tasks
Support technical accounting initiatives related to complex transactions, including revenue recognition and lease accounting
Collaborate with internal teams on internal controls, audit preparations, and process improvements to enhance financial accuracy and efficiency
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field; CPA or equivalent certification preferred
Proven experience in corporate accounting with a strong understanding of GAAP; experience with IFRS is a plus
Demonstrated expertise in general ledger accounting, account reconciliation, and financial analysis
Familiarity with SOX compliance requirements and governmental or nonprofit accounting standards is highly desirable
Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, or similar platforms; advanced Excel skills are essential
Strong knowledge of double entry bookkeeping principles, debits & credits, and financial concepts
Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and financial report writing for diverse organizational types including nonprofit or public sector entities
Excellent analytical skills combined with keen attention to detail; ability to interpret complex financial data accurately
Effective communication skills to clearly present financial information to stakeholders at all levels
Preferred
CPA or equivalent certification preferred
Experience with IFRS is a plus
Familiarity with SOX compliance requirements and governmental or nonprofit accounting standards is highly desirable
