Lead Test & Development Engineer
Proper Voltage is unlocking the next generation of battery technology across robotics, data centers, and defense. The Lead Test & Development Engineer will own the definition, execution, and evolution of test and validation across battery products, ensuring they are safe, reliable, and production-ready.

Responsibilities
Own test strategy and validation plans across battery modules, packs, and systems
Design and execute development, verification, and reliability testing
Define test coverage for electrical, thermal, mechanical, environmental, and safety performance
Build and maintain test fixtures, rigs, and automated test setups
Develop test procedures, scripts, and data capture pipelines
Analyze test data to identify failure modes, trends, and design gaps
Lead root-cause investigations and corrective action efforts
Partner with engineering teams to close the loop between test results and design changes
Support product readiness for production, field deployment, and scaling
Contribute to standards alignment (internal specs, external regulations, best practices)
Qualification
Required
7+ years of experience in test, validation, or development engineering
Strong hands-on experience with battery systems, power electronics, or energy storage
Experience designing and executing system-level test plans
Comfortable working with high-voltage and energy-dense systems
Experience with data acquisition, instrumentation, and analysis tools
Strong root-cause analysis and failure investigation skills
Ability to operate independently and make sound engineering judgments
Preferred
Experience with battery safety testing (abuse, fault injection, edge cases)
Familiarity with relevant standards (UL, IEC, UN, SAE, etc.)
Experience supporting production validation or field issue resolution
Prior startup or early-stage product experience
