Responsibilities
Conduct Echocardiograms: Perform transthoracic echocardiograms (TTE) to evaluate cardiac function, structure, and blood flow
Patient Interaction: Explain procedures to patients, ensure comfort, and obtain accurate patient history to support diagnostic accuracy
Image Analysis: Analyze echocardiographic images to identify and document abnormalities or changes in cardiac function and structure
Documentation: Accurately record and maintain patient information, test results, and technical details in electronic health records (EHR) and prepare detailed reports for review by physicians
Collaboration: Work closely with cardiologists, primary care physicians, and other healthcare professionals to integrate echocardiographic findings into patient care plans
Equipment Maintenance: Operate and maintain echocardiographic equipment, perform quality checks, and report any malfunctions or issues
Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols, infection control procedures, and regulatory guidelines to ensure a safe and efficient work environment
Patient Education: Educate patients and their families about cardiac conditions and echocardiographic procedures as needed
Qualification
Required
Education: Associate's or bachelor's degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography, Cardiac Sonography, or a related field. and/or Cardiovascular Sonography program
Certification: Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) credential from the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) and/or Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI)
Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Cardiac Sonographer, preferably in a clinical or outpatient setting
Technical Skills: Proficiency in operating echocardiographic equipment and other equipment involved with sharing studies with cardiology provider
Clinical Skills: Proficient in performing a variety of cardiac imaging techniques and strong understanding of cardiac anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology with the ability to identify and report abnormalities
Communication: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members
Detail Oriented: High attention to detail and accuracy in performing and documenting echocardiographic procedures
Compassionate Care: Demonstrated ability to provide empathetic and patient centered care
