Chief Financial Officer

Reneris is a newly established public development entity focused on affordable social housing in Seattle, seeking its inaugural CFO. The CFO will be responsible for building the financial backbone of the organization and will lead financial planning, budgeting, compliance, and capital strategy to ensure long-term sustainability.

Responsibilities

Develop and execute long-term financial strategy aligned with the organization's mission and growth trajectory
Serve as a thought partner to the CEO and Board on capital planning, risk management, and organizational sustainability
Lead treasury, financial controls, and investment strategy to responsibly steward and grow tens of millions of dollars in public funds
Partner with development staff and advisors to inform and review financial modeling for real estate development, including pro forma analysis and scenario planning
Lead the development of financial policies, procedures, and internal systems
Oversee accounting, audit, and internal controls in compliance with public sector and nonprofit standards
Leverage financial tools and funding mechanisms to expand financing resources for housing projects, including public financing, and mission-aligned investment
Engage with public agencies, philanthropic partners, and community stakeholders to build trust and transparency
Lead audit preparedness and compliance with city and state oversight requirements, recognizing the elevated scrutiny facing a new public development authority
Ensure compliance with all applicable public authority, nonprofit, and housing finance regulations, including requirements related to public meetings, public records, and transparency

Required

10+ years of progressive financial leadership experience, including at least 3 years in a senior executive role
Deep knowledge of nonprofit, public sector, or mission-driven real estate finance
Strong understanding of GAAP and demonstrated experience with complex budgeting, capital planning, financial modeling and audit preparation
Expertise in treasury and fund accounting, including compliant investment of liquid assets and segregation of property and entity-level finances
Proven ability to lead teams
Experience in a start-up environment and proven ability to build systems
Proven ability to communicate financial information to nonfinancial audiences
Demonstrated commitment to the organization's mission and values, including equity, public accountability, and community-centered development
