Financial Compliance & Reporting Analyst

Osceola County Government is seeking a Financial Compliance & Reporting Analyst to perform professional-level financial analysis and reporting. Responsibilities

Assists in planning, preparing, and ensuring the timely completion of the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report, State Annual Financial Report, and other mandated financial reports
Ensures compliance with Government Accounting Standard Board, generally accepted accounting principles, and applicable local, federal, and state reporting requirements
Serves as liaison with external and internal auditors, coordinating and responding to audit requests
Assists in providing analytical support and compliance guidance to fiscal staff, management, and internal departments
Assists in evaluating and recommending improvements to accounting policies, internal controls, and reporting processes to maintain compliance and accuracy
Reviews and analyzes financial transactions, revenues, and expenditures to ensure consistency with regulations and approved budgets
Monitors, researches, and assists in the implementation of new accounting and reporting standards as issued by GASB and other regulatory authorities
Coordinates financial closeout activities, ensuring proper documentation and adherence to regulatory deadlines
Assists with development and revision of compliance-related financial policies, including travel and expenditure regulations
Conducts quarterly training and workshops to ensure staff compliance with accounting standards and County financial policies
Prepares supporting documentation and reconciliations to validate the accuracy of reported financial data
Provides assistance to the Financial Services Assistant Director on complex analytical projects and compliance initiatives
Performs duties as assigned/necessary, which are related or logical in assignment to the position

Required

Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field
Two (2) years of progressively responsible experience in financial analysis, reporting, or accounting, preferably in a government or public sector setting
Must possess and maintain a valid Florida driver's license
Knowledge of financial reporting, fund accounting, auditing practices, and internal control frameworks
Skill in analyzing, reconciling, and interpreting complex financial data to prepare accurate reports and statements
Skill in using financial systems, spreadsheets, and reporting tools to collect, organize, and present data
Skill in using financial systems and advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, formulas, and data analysis tools)
Ability to ensure compliance with accounting standards, regulations, and audit requirements
Ability to identify discrepancies, evaluate risks, and recommend process and policy improvements
Ability to coordinate effectively with auditors, staff, management, and external stakeholders
Ability to communicate complex financial information clearly through reports, presentations, and training

Preferred

Knowledge of governmental accounting principles, including GAAP, GASB standards, and state/federal reporting requirements
