The Connecticut Department of Administrative Services is seeking Seasonal Maintainers for Southbury Training School and Camp Harkness. In this role, you will maintain safe and welcoming outdoor environments, contributing to the enjoyment and comfort of campers and visitors throughout the summer season.

Responsibilities

Help create safe, clean, and welcoming outdoor environments at DDS facilities

Maintain grounds where campers laugh, trails where people explore, and facilities where safety and comfort are essential

Work as part of a team to accomplish tasks

Required

Are at least 18 years old by May 2, 2025

Can commit to the full season

Hold a valid driver's license and can safely use maintenance equipment

Are physically prepared to work outdoors in all kinds of weather

Have the strength, flexibility, and endurance for hands-on tasks

Enjoy working around a wide variety of people, including staff and campers

Are committed to completing training and passing a pre-employment physical

Preferred

Experience operating a wide variety of grounds maintenance machinery and equipment (commercial mowers, tractors, string trimmers, blowers etc.)

Previous maintenance and grounds keeping experience

Previous basic plumbing, electric and carpentry experience

Experience working with or volunteering with people with disabilities

Previous experience working in a camp, park, or other recreational setting

Experience operating a wide variety of grounds maintenance machinery and equipment (commercial mowers, backhoe, string trimmers, blowers etc.)
