Responsibilities
Own the annual operating plan, reforecasts, and integrated financial models, including cash flow, burn, and runway
Build, maintain, and automate financial models and forecasts, including scenario analysis and downside planning
Run the monthly business review (MBR) process, including variance analysis, cash tracking, and action follow-up
Prepare high-quality executive and board materials with a strong focus on clarity, accuracy, and narrative
Drive cost discipline and manage G&A spend
Lead capital budgeting and investment governance processes, including Financial Models (FMs), Authorizations for Expenditure (AFEs), and Authorizations to Negotiate (ATNs)
Develop, create, and maintain technical dashboards across exploration, land, commercial, technology, people, and finance
Partner with exploration, technology, and commercial teams to evaluate capital allocation, risks, and tradeoffs
Leverage AI and automation tools to streamline FP&A workflows, reporting, forecasting, and executive materials
Qualification
Required
5–10+ years of experience in FP&A, corporate finance, project finance, investment banking, consulting, or similar roles
Strong financial modeling skills, including integrated models and detailed cash flow forecasting
Advanced Excel skills and experience with dashboards
Experience running monthly business reviews and supporting executive- and board-level decision-making
Hands-on experience with capital budgeting and investment governance frameworks (FMs, AFEs, ATNs, or equivalents)
Proactive, ownership-driven, and comfortable operating with ambiguity
Trusted thought partner who builds strong cross-functional relationships through credibility and follow-through
Clear, concise communicator with technical and non-technical stakeholders
High standards for accuracy, rigor, and presentation quality
Experience in energy, oil & gas, subsurface exploration, clean-tech, or other capital-intensive industrial businesses
Background supporting pre-revenue or early-stage projects with long development timelines and technical uncertainty
Undergraduate degree in finance, economics, accounting, or engineering
Preferred
Hands-on experience using AI tools to automate financial analysis, reporting, forecasting, and executive materials
Experience supporting exploration, appraisal, development, or first-of-a-kind projects, including natural hydrogen exploration
