Texas Department Of Criminal Justice is seeking an Administrative Assistant III for the Training and Leader Development Division. The role involves providing complex administrative support, maintaining filing systems, preparing reports, and serving as a liaison between departments.

Government Administration

Responsibilities

Serves as liaison between training department staff and information technology; and submits requests for database access, installation of equipment, and other computer-related needs
Compiles, verifies, updates, and maintains correctional training statistical data; compiles and enters data, and prepares reports, charts, forms and graphs; and prepares and disseminates information concerning correctional training programs and training class documentation
Prepares, edits, and distributes correspondence, reports, forms, and other documents; and maintains filing, record keeping, and records management systems to include automated information systems
Provides customer service and responds to inquires; monitors and reviews data entered by others in the training database; and assists in troubleshooting and solving training database and computer-related problems
Provides technical support and training to staff in proper class documentation and in the utilization of the agency consolidated training database
Performs a variety of marginal duties not listed, to be determined and assigned as needed

Required

Graduation from an accredited senior high school or equivalent or GED
Two years full-time, wage-earning customer service, clerical, secretarial, administrative support, or technical program support experience
Fifteen semester hours from a college or university accredited by an organization recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) or by the United States Department of Education (USDE) may be substituted for each six months of experience
Knowledge of office practices and procedures
Knowledge of business terminology, spelling, punctuation, and grammar
Skill to communicate ideas and instructions clearly and concisely
Skill to coordinate with other staff, departments, officials, agencies, organizations, and the public
Skill to interpret and apply rules, regulations, policies, and procedures
Skill in problem-solving techniques
Skill in the use of computers and related equipment in a stand-alone or local area network environment
Skill to prepare and maintain complex records and files in an automated system
Skill in the electronic transmission of communications

Preferred

Computer operations experience
Experience in the use of Microsoft Office Suite or equivalent to include work processing, spreadsheet, database, or presentation software programs
Knowledge of agency and departmental organizational structure, policies, procedures, rules, and regulations
Skill in the use of Microsoft Office Suite or equivalent to include word processing, spreadsheet, database, or presentation software programs
Skill to type 45 words per minute (with no more than 10 errors) preferred
