Responsibilities
Database Design & Development: Design, develop, and implement database systems based on customer requirements. Work closely with project stakeholders to define database requirements and design specifications
Performance Optimization: Optimize database systems for performance efficiency. Conduct performance tuning and implement best practices to improve response times and resource utilization
Documentation: Prepare design specifications, functional documentation, and user guides for assigned database projects
Space Management & Capacity Planning: Perform space management and capacity planning for database systems to ensure optimal performance and resource utilization
Data Integrity: Ensure data quality and integrity by implementing best practices and regularly auditing the database systems for accuracy and compliance
Development of Database Objects: Develop database tables, dictionaries, complex functions, scripts, stored procedures, and triggers to support application development and business logic
Back-up and Recovery: Perform regular data and system back-ups, ensuring that database recovery procedures are in place and tested
Testing & Bug Fixing: Test databases and resolve any issues related to database functionality, performance, and security. Implement bug fixes and perform continuous improvement initiatives
Collaboration: Collaborate with team members, stakeholders, and other departments to ensure seamless integration of database systems with other enterprise applications
Qualification
Required
6+ years in database development and design
Must have prior experience with the Accessible Tool for Learning About Students (ATLAS)
Strong knowledge of SQL Server and Redis database management systems
Proficiency in Cognos, HTML Grids, and HTML Charts for reporting and visualization
Expertise in working with Windows operating systems
Expertise in database performance tuning and optimization techniques
Strong experience in developing complex scripts, stored procedures, triggers, and database functions
Deep understanding of data quality management and ensuring data integrity within the database systems
Preferred
Experience with cloud-based databases or other database management platforms
Familiarity with DevOps and CI/CD practices for database deployments
Knowledge of NoSQL databases or additional reporting tools is a plus
A degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is preferred
Relevant certifications in SQL Server or Database Management are a plus
