As a Lead Auditor, you'll conduct comprehensive financial assessments and revenue cycle evaluations, providing insights that enable safety-net providers to improve reimbursement rates and reduce dependency on grant funding.

Responsibilities

Conduct comprehensive financial assessments and revenue cycle evaluations for 16 Sponsoring Organizations across Maryland
Provide critical insights that enable safety-net providers to achieve 95% reimbursement rates and reduce dependency on grant funding
Establish baselines, identify specific revenue opportunities, and track progress as organizations implement improvements

Required

Bachelor's degree from accredited university in: Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Related field
CPA (Certified Public Accountant) license - STRONGLY PREFERRED Active license in Maryland or reciprocal state
If not CPA: Must demonstrate equivalent expertise through credentials/experience
10+ years of auditing and data collection experience
Progressive experience in financial analysis and evaluation
Proven track record conducting organizational financial assessments
Advanced Excel skills: Complex formulas, VLOOKUP/INDEX-MATCH, Pivot tables and advanced filtering, Financial modeling and scenario analysis, Creating professional charts and dashboards
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Analytical Rigor: Meticulous attention to detail with ability to identify patterns and anomalies
Healthcare Acumen: Understanding of healthcare financial operations and unique challenges
Communication: Translate complex financial data into clear, actionable insights for non-financial audiences
Independence: Objective, unbiased evaluation and reporting
Problem-Solving: Identify root causes and recommend practical solutions
Collaboration: Work effectively with diverse stakeholders (executives, billing staff, clinicians)
Integrity: Maintain confidentiality and professional ethics
Adaptability: Navigate varied organizational structures and data systems

Preferred

Healthcare financial analysis and audit experience
Revenue cycle management knowledge (billing, collections, A/R management)
Experience analyzing medical billing and claims data
Familiarity with healthcare payer systems: Medicaid (Fee-for-Service and Managed Care), Commercial insurance reimbursement, Medicare billing and payment
Community health center or FQHC financial experience (preferred)
Understanding of healthcare regulatory requirements (HRSA, Joint Commission, state licensing)
Grant funding and budget management knowledge
Data analysis tools: PowerBI or Tableau
QuickBooks or healthcare accounting software
Healthcare billing systems knowledge (preferred): EHR billing modules (eClinicalWorks, NextGen, Athenahealth, Epic), Practice management systems, Claims clearinghouses
