Fire Inspector/Fire Official-Part time Instructor (PT)

Passaic County Community College is seeking a Fire Inspector/Official Instructor to join their team. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching and mentoring students in fire safety and inspector duties, while also developing course curriculum and maintaining certification knowledge.

Responsibilities

Teach a variety of courses related to fire safety, fire codes, fire investigations, fire prevention, and fire official duties
Develop and update curriculum to ensure it aligns with current industry standards, regulations and best practices
Mentor and advise students on academic and career paths within the fire service
Contribute to program development and assessment
Maintain professional certifications and knowledge of the latest advancements in fire safety
The fire inspector class encompasses plan review and inspection for all commercial structures in accordance with the NJ Department of Community Affairs, Division of Fire Safety, specifically UFC section NJAC 5:71-4.9(f)

Required

Extensive experience as a certified fire official and fire inspector
Professional certifications from organizations such as the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) or the International Code Council (ICC)
Demonstrated expertise in fire prevention, code enforcement, and fire investigation
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
The ability to work effectively with diverse student populations

Preferred

Prior teaching experience
Experience in fire department administration or leadership
